EDP
EDP is a global energy company committed to sustainability, innovation, and transforming the energy sector. They operate in multiple locations and aim to foster a culture that reflects these values across all their business units.
Challenge
EDP asked for our help to conduct a diagnosis and align a cohesive organizational culture across all its business units globally, while ensuring alignment with their sustainability goals. The challenge intensified with the pandemic, requiring a shift to remote, collaborative tools to engage a diverse, global workforce. It was also challenging, as EDP would soon enter a board renewal, with a new CEO.
Outcome
The project successfully identified the key cultural dimensions that shaped EDP’s operations and developed actionable strategies for transforming their culture. The result was a sustainable and cohesive culture aligned across all units, with a focus on a paradigm shift from a machine to a living network.
We helped EDP turn cultural alignment into a strategic advantage, fostering a sustainable, adaptable, and human-centered organization. By leveraging co-creation, we ensured that culture became a driving force for resilience, innovation, and shared purpose - preparing EDP for leadership transitions and future challenges.
Our role and goal
From Diagnosis to Transformation: Cultivating a Living Organizational Culture
Our role in the project was to conduct a comprehensive cultural diagnosis, involving a combination of research and co-creation activities. We aimed to identify the gaps and opportunities within EDP’s organizational culture, across various departments and regions, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. We designed a tailored culture model to analyze key cultural dimensions and shaped strategic recommendations to foster a more cohesive, sustainable culture.
We utilized workshops, interviews, and data analysis to gather insights and synthesize them into frameworks and strategies that would drive organizational change. Through this work, we aimed to facilitate a paradigm shift within EDP’s culture, evolving it from a “machine” to a “living network” driven by a shift in mindset.
Research
By bridging diverse perspectives and data points, we provided EDP with a clear, actionable cultural blueprint. Our tailored model offered a structured yet flexible approach to navigating complexity, ensuring that cultural transformation was both measurable and deeply embedded. This work equipped EDP with the tools to sustain alignment and adaptability.
Results
The main outcome was an in-depth analysis of the information gathered throughout the project. Correlating, cross-referencing and bringing together contradictory perspectives; helping to formulate insights through the use of frameworks and matrices, synthesizing our findings and extracting deeper meaning.
The analysis had to portray an accurate EDP diagnosis, that allowed a comparison between the collected quantitative and qualitative data. For that to happen a new model was specially developed for EDP, which inspired by other references, considered 7 cultural dimensions: excellence in execution, innovation, belonging & motivation, processes agility, alignment, collaboration and recognition.
